Lab Assistant

During my junior year I was recruited as a lab assistant for CHEM 111. During the time when I had this role, I was able to conduct one class and help the instructor with organizing the needed material to conduct the lab. My main significant role as a lab assistant is preparing the needed lab materials for students prior to the lab. In addition to that I gave an overview of what the experiment was about and the expectation that is needed for the students by the end of the lab period. The major leadership values that I was able to develop were passion, commitment and confidence. I was very passionate about my class and students as I was eager to help my students succeed in their course. I was also able to develop confidence in myself when making decision and guiding the students to succeed in their course. The weakness I had in the beginning of the course was that I was scared of my accent, but through time I started to gain confidence every time I gave this lecture overview. In fact, it has helped me to be more independent as a person and help others grow in their field. Thus, I developed a leadership style of being an open-minded person and allowing all ideas and opinions are put under consideration. Perhaps, using the leadership values I've received, I'll be able to use these lessons in the workplace, where I'll be working with a group of individuals.
